I can’t stop laughing just thinking about this

Posted by bdowd625 on January 7, 2010

St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has fallen off the wagon once again. Apparently the drunken slob has considered the possibility of using new hitting coach and PED wonderboy Mark McGwire as a pinch hitter during the stretch run in 2010. This has got to be a joke right? I mean, do Cardinal fans – who watched this guy break Roger Maris’ single-season home run record – even want to see this happen? I can’t imagine so.

La Russa said the Cardinal hitters will love learning from McGwire. Exactly what will they be learning, Tony? Where to insert the needle so that it doesn’t leave as much of a scar? Or maybe how to ignore things that happened in the past, no matter how controversial they might be? Give me a break. I wouldn’t want this guy anywhere near my ballclub at any time.

The media is going to have a field day in St. Louis this year. And you know McGwire is going to make some lame-ass statement at the beginning of the season about how he only wants to talk about the current team and helping them win a World Series. But after five years in hiding, he will certainly face some tough questions. Unless of course he becomes that pinch hitter. Then we can all just laugh at him until he crawls back under his rock and goes away for good.
