Let the playoffs begin!

We here at Ramble On know we shouldn’t get too excited about the upcoming NHL and NBA playoffs, which begin tonight when the Bruins take on the Buffalo Sabres in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Let’s face it – the Bruins can’t score and the Celtics harldy ever show up to play anymore. Whether the two squads win or lose, though, doesn’t really matter. We’re here to provide a service for our loyal followers and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

I will be posting recaps after each of the Bruins’ playoffs games, while my counterpart, BK1015, will do the same for the Celtics. Make sure to check back each day to see what new and exciting ways we’ve come up with to bash our hometown heroes.

And now for my predictions on the two first-round series:

* The Bruins will beat the Sabres in six games. (Sorry to all my friends and family in western New York.) I know Ryan Miller has had a dream season in net, but if there was ever a favorable matchup for the low-scoring Bruins, this is it. If Tuukka Rask can find a way to keep these games close, I think the B’s can pull it out. That’s probably just the blatant homer in me, but deal with it. It’s my blog, not yours.

* The Celtics will get their asses handed to them in five games. Look for the C’s to go down two games to none right off the bat, then beat Miami on its home floor in Game 3 to make us think they have some life left in them. They’ll follow that victory with two more clunkers, ending their season and Doc Rivers’ tenure in Beantown.

Enjoy the games, everyone!
