Ramble On Sports

Where sports, pop culture and everything else collide.

Is this real life?

I was doing my usual perusing of the Internet yesterday when I stumbled upon this absolute gem on Barstool Sports New York. Fox Sports announcer Joe Buck is allegedly – and I mean that in the strongest sense of the word – getting divorced from his wife after she found out he was having an affair with – get this – FERNANDO FREAKIN’ TATIS. For those of our readers out there who don’t know who Tatis is, the guy’s a Major League journeyman, made famous for the fact that he hit two grand slams in one inning off of Chan Ho Park back in 1999. Big friggin’ deal. I could take Chan Ho Park deep in my sleep. I’d expect more out of Buck. At least shoot for a future Hall of Famer, my friend.

This rumor sounds absolutely ludicrous – I’ll give you that. But let’s just think this through for a second. What person out there was sitting around thinking, “I wonder what outrageous scenario I could make up about Joe Buck and Fernando Tatis that would defy all logic?” Other than angry Mets fans, that is. Either way, this story is just so ridiculous that it might actually be true. I only wish it was Tim McCarver instead of Joe Buck. I loooooathe McCarver and would love nothing more than to see his name soiled like this.

Hey, speaking of that, did you know Tim McCarver has an unhealthy obsession with circus midgets? Now you do.

UPDATE: My buddy Russ just read this blog and summarized the situation perfectly. “Joe Buck sucks on the air, so why not off it, too?” Damn it, why didn’t I think of that?
